Updated February 10, 2017 Open Windows Explorer. Click “Tools” and “Folder Options.” Click “View.” Look for the box next to “Hide Extensions for Known File Types.” If there is a check in it, click the box to remove the check. Click “OK.” Windows Explorer will now display the file extension of all files on your computer. Right-click on your SRT file. Click “Rename.” Change the “.SRT” part of the SRT file’s name to “.TXT.” This will convert it from an SRT file to a standard text document. Open the file in a text editor and make changes.
