Running a website that processes financial information or retrieves personal data from visitors requires encryption between the user’s browser and the website. This is accomplished by enabling a protocol called secure socket layers (SSL). SSL encrypts the data to secure sensitive information. In Internet Information Services (IIS), enabling SSL is accomplished in the configuration console. You can restrict folders to allow access only if the user’s connection is encrypted. This ensures that any pages on the website that retrieve sensitive data are always secured. Writer Bio
