Sign in to your Tumblr dashboard. Select a Tumblr blog from the upper right of the window, and then click the “Customize” link. Click the option labeled “Edit HTML” on the left navigation pane. Press “Ctrl-F” to open the HTML search bar. Search for the “{block:Photo}” and “{/block:Photo}” tags (without quotes) to locate your theme’s block of HTML code for photo posts. Locate the “{block:PermalinkPage}{block:Caption}{Caption}{/block:Caption}{/block:PermalinkPage}” sequence within the photo posts block and then delete both the “{block:PermalinkPage}” and “{/block:PermalinkPage}” segments. The end result should look like “{block:Caption}{Caption}{/block:Caption}.” Click “Update Preview.” All captions under photos should now show up on the preview screen to the right. Click “Save,” click the back button on the HTML editing pane, and then click “Exit.” If your theme contains multiple instances of the “{block:Photo}” and “{/block:Photo}” tags, use the up and down buttons on the HTML search bar to continue searching until you come across the block of code that contains the caption sequence.
