The Internet is full of fascinating and practical software programs available for download free of charge. Many of these programs, however, can create issues with running your computer that resemble a virus. Incredimail is one such program. It advertises itself as a unique email application, but can come with unwanted Trojan horse software. While you can manually remove Incredimail and accompanying spyware, the process may prove time-consuming. You must also remove the following entries under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE: Software\Classes.imc Software\Clients\Mail\Incredimail Software\Elishim\Protect\Browser (remove the Incredimail value) Software\Incredimail Software\Microsoft\Direct3D\Most Recent Applications\ (remove the NAME value that points to Incredimail.exe) \Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\Incredimail Finally, make sure to delete the following key entirely: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MenuOrder\Start Menu\Programs\Incredimail key. Before you begin, make sure to back up your registry; any errors made in the process of editing the registry can create serious system problems. Click “Start” and type “regedit,” then press “Enter.” Next, select “Export” from the menu. Find a folder in which to save the backup, then click “Save.” To find the keys in the Registry Editor window, click “Edit” on the toolbar, then select “Find” from the list. Type in each extension and entry carefully, then click “Find.” As you locate each key listed above, highlight it and press “Delete.” Some users report receiving an error message stating that the computer cannot find Incredimail.exe when trying to open emails through other programs after Incredimail has been uninstalled. In this case, uninstall and then reinstall your email program. Make sure to back up any emails you want to keep before doing so, however.
